Normi Sham Awang Abu Bakar is a lecturer in the Department of Computer
Science, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Her
research interests are software metrics and measurement, empirical
software engineering and quality of open source software. She has

[Dunia-Digital] The Low Overhead x86 Virtualization System - MOSC2011

The Low Overhead x86 Virtualization System - MOSC2011

MesinMaya is an open source virtualization system. Unlike other open
source and commercialized product like Xen, KVM, VMWARE and etc,
MesinMaya provides low overhead operation as its uniqueness. Its
arcitecture is based on Azril Azam's 2007 Ottawa Linux Symposium -
Virtualization Summit, extended abstract titled ""low overhead x86
virtual machine.

This presentation is targetting system programers. Mostly it will
cover the arcitecture and its software developent kit. The
presentation will also covers some technical specs for interested sys
admin or companies who woud like to adopt MesinMaya in their operation
system.

MOSC2011 Speaker : Azril Azam Abdul Rahim

Azril Azam is the owner and the programmer for MesinMaya. He has
almost 15 years of cummulative experiance in both low and high level
system programing and computer security. To this date, he has written
and published several commercial, shareware and open source sotfware
under his name. Some of it has earned both local and international
awards. Azril is also an experiance software code ghost-writer where
he developed system for others without putting his copyright. He is
also has been contributing codes for Xen and KVM project since 2007.
Hold both computer science and operation management degrees from the
university of Missouri. He is also certified in GCFA, CEH, ECSP, CEI.

MySQL has announced new product roadmap beyond MySQL 5.5 and MySQL
Cluster 7.1.We summarize MySQL's first year under Oracle's
stewardship, discuss thecurrent and ongoing engagement with the MySQL
users and offer insights into future roadmaps and commitment to MySQL
products.

Current major version MySQL 5.5 has number of enhancements in
performance, scalability, and availability. MySQL development team is
accelerating development of InnoDB storage engine to implement some
legacy features of MyISAM into InnoDB.

Also, with new NDB Engine for Memcached, you can use Memcached as a
caching interface to MySQL Cluster, Or it can be configured so that
NDB simply serves as a reliable persistent backend for memcache,
making MySQL Cluster's fault tolerance and geographic replication
available to memcached.

MOSC2011 Speaker : Ryusuke Kajiyama

Ryusuke is OSS Specialist with 10+ years of experience of systems
design using MySQL and open source solutions. He originally joined
MySQL, and is now working as MySQL Principal Sales Consultant at
Oracle based in Japan. Responsible for consulting and education of
MySQL, covering all Asian countries.

Prior to join MySQL, he was Consultant at Nomura Research Institute,
Japan's largest consulting firm, working on enterprise systems design
with OSS. He is the project lead of "OpenOLAP for MySQL", Co-Founder
of Japan JBoss Users Group.

Data Warehousing with Open Source Technologies (or why not to use Data
Marts in 2010) - MOSC2011

The role of business intelligence within corporations and governments
is to store, improve and analyse key information in order to make
data-driven decisions. However these projects suffer from a high
failure rate due to the complexity and significant costs in
establishing a data warehouse. Successful data warehousing projects
are based on a combination of business sponsorship and solid database
systems expertise.

This session will discuss the open source technologies, in a vendor
neutral way, that can be brought together to provide data warehouse
capabilities at a fraction of the setup costs for a traditional
environment. The technologies will cover a range of areas including
DBMS's, development, ETL, reporting and data mining. Finally, this
paper will discuss cutting-edge research and techniques to improve
existing Business Intelligence systems.

Evan Leybourn is a manager, trainer and public speaker with over 10

Saya sedang dalam proses untuk menyiapkan thesis yang bertajuk "Open
source software migration framework for technical and vocational
education in Malaysia" untuk melengkapkan pengajian saya dan saya
menghadapi masalah untuk mencari responden untuk kajian ini. Tujuan
kajian ini dilakukan adalah untuk membina satu kerangka (framework)
untuk memudahkan pengguna berhijrah menggunakan OSS terutamanya untuk
pendidikan teknik dan vokasional. Pendidikan yang berkaitan dengan
kemahiran (programming, rekabentuk laman web, rekabentuk grafik,
kemahiran hidup, autocad, lukisan, joomla, dan semua yang berkaitan
dengan ict) adalah berkaitan dengan pendidikan teknik dan vokasional
termasuklah kursus-kursus berbentuk bengkel.

Saya memerlukan bantuan kawan-kawan (lebih daripada 30 orang) yang
memenuhi kriteria responden saya untuk meluangkan masa selama 5 minit
untuk menjawab 36 soalan "ya" atau "tidak".

Kriteria responden saya ialah seorang pengajar atau pensyarah atau
guru yang berpengalaman menggunakan OSS. Penceramah untuk bengkel
berkaitan OSS juga adalah tergolong dalam responden kajian ini.

(Galleries/Libraries/Archives/Museums) sector activities.

During implementations, Irma's focus is on training, and she brings to
her clients a solid understanding of Koha, library processes,
international library standards and of the Australian library context.

Guagnxi Zhuang, China- Seorang bapa, Lu Tan, 39 terpaksa bertindak keras ke atas anak lelakinya berusia 14 tahun dengan mengheretnya dalam keadaan tangan terikat di belakang dan telanjang setelah didapati anaknya tidak menghiraukan nasihat dan amaraannya supaya jangan lagi menghabiskan masa dengan bermain permainan komputer.

Hampir setiap hari Xiaomeng, 14 tahun menghabiskan masanya sepanjang hari dengan memerap di dalam biliknya kerana ketagihan bermain permainan komputer. Amaran yang diberikan berpuluh kali terhadap anaknya seolah-olah seperti sampah. Setelah komputer di rumahnya di humban ke tempat pembuangan sampah oleh ayahnya, Xiaomeng mencuri-curi keluar ke siber kafe pula dan membelanjakan banyak wang.

Akhirnya kesabaran seorang ayah hilang lalu bertindak di luar kawalan. Dia menyerbu siber kafe tersebut, menampar, mengikat tangan dan membogelkannya. Kemudian dia mengheret anaknya di hadapan rakan-rakanya dengan tujuan memberi pengajaran dan kesedaran kepada anaknya bahawa masa depannya bukan bergantung kepada permainan komputer tetapi perlu menumpukan pelajarannya di sekolah dan membantu ayahnya di rumah.

Isteri Lu Tan meninggal dunia ketika anaknya berusia 9 bulan. Semenjak itu dia bekerja keras menanggung keluarga. Akibat terlalu kecewa dengan sikap anaknya dia bertindak demikian demi masa depan anaknya. Dia mahukan anaknya sedar dan menjadi orang yang berguna kemudian hari.

Ulasan

[ Gejala ketagihan permainan komputer [video game] sebenarnya sudah meluas di kalangan kanak-kanak bawah umur di negara kita. Dengan kewujudan banyak siber kafe yang menyediakan kemudahan permainan komputer di pekan dan bandar tambah merumitkan masalah sosial di kalangan anak-anak Melayu terutamanya.

Ibu bapa harus bijak mengawal dan menangani anak mereka agar tidak terjebak dengan masalah ini. Permainan komputer dengan cara yang betul sebenarnya dapat membantu anak-anak kita mengembangkan minda kreatif, membantu meningkatkan penguasaan pemahaman dalam bahasa Inggeris dengan syarat ibu bapa mestilah mengawasi dan memastikan had masa mereka bermain, serta jenis permainan yang sesuai dengan tahap umur anak. Lebih baik jika kemudahan komputer dapat disediakan di rumah untuk mengelakkan anak-anak daripada melepak di siber kafe.

Penguatkuasaan yang longgar juga antara punca gejala buruk ini menghantui kebimbangan ibu bapa terhadap anak-anak mereka. Pihak berkuasa pula harus lebih tegas terhadap pengusaha siber kafe supaya mematuhi segala peraturan dan undang-undang yang sedia ada. Tindakan tegas dan penguatkuasaan hukuman mestilah dilaksanakan terhadap pengusaha yang melanggar undang-undang.] /Omuo

Kepraktisan sebuah perangkat dapat mempermudah dan memperlancar pekerjaan orang yang mempergunakannya. Terlebih lagi dengan disertai kehandalan yang tinggi, tentunya juga akan mempertinggi kinerja orang yang mempergunakanya.

Menyadari hal itu, baru-baru ini Kodak telah memperkenalkan sebuah perangkat camcorder full HD terbaru berukuran yang dienal dengan PlaySport. Perangkat camcorder ini dilengkapi dengan perekam video 1080p full HD berkecepatan 30fps dan penangkap gambar berukuran 5 Megapixel. Selain itu, juga dilengkapi dengan tampilan layar LCD berukuran 2 inchi dengan LCD Glare Shield, fitur electronic image stabilization, fitur smart face tracking technology, dan HDMI output.

Yang tambah menarik lagi, ternyata Kodak PlaySport ini tahan terhadap air hingga kedalaman 3 meter jika dicelupkan. Perangkat ini mendukung SD/SDHC card berkapasitas hingga 32GB. Dengan demikian ini berarti, cukup menampung video HD selama 10 jam.

Mengenai keberadaanya di pasaran, perangkat PlaySport ini akan tersedia dalam beberapa warna pilihan diantaranya Abyss (black), Wave Crash (blue) dan Adrenaline Rush (purple). Dan khusus pasaran Amerika Serikat, perangkat ini dibandrol seharga 149,95 USD atau sekitar 1,5 juta rupiah per unitnya. Dan pemasarannya pun akan ditargetkan mulai bulan April 2010 mendatang. Hm, kita lihat saja nanti!

part of course learning new programming language (we're PHP shop) and
developing this product as RnD and push it to become our source of
